Oil-sealed pumps are reliable, but they need oil changes, they can release oil mist and they can contaminate sensitive processes. Atlas Copco dry vacuum pumps remove oil from the compression chamber entirely. The result is clean exhaust air, no oil to dispose of and fewer routine service tasks. At Provac Sales, we supply Atlas Copco DHS dry screw, DVS dry vane and DZS dry claw pumps, and we offer repair and rebuild service for Atlas Copco vacuum equipment.
Most dry pump listings are quote-based, so pricing and lead time are confirmed on inquiry. Each product page shows the available specifications and technical sheet.
All three are oil-free in the pumping chamber, but they suit different pressure ranges and duty cycles:
If your process runs near atmospheric pressure, a DVS or DZS pump is usually the economical choice. If you need deeper vacuum, faster cycles or a pump that tolerates water vapor, a DHS dry screw is often the better fit.
VSD+ models use a variable speed drive that adjusts motor speed to the actual vacuum demand rather than running flat out all the time. On applications with changing demand, such as several packaging machines on one central system, this reduces energy use and noise. The DHS VSD+ also includes an Elektronikon controller for monitoring and plant integration, and SMARTLINK remote monitoring. Fixed-speed DHS models are simpler and suit steady, constant-demand applications.
Before ordering, confirm:
If you are replacing an oil-sealed pump, send us the old pump model and your process conditions. Dry pumps do not always match an oil-sealed pump's ultimate pressure, so it is worth checking before you switch.
On the DHS series, for example, the main routine service parts are the grease-lubricated bearings and the belt, which can be changed in about 30 minutes.
Dry pumps are simple to install, but a few checks at the start protect the pump and make later troubleshooting easier:
Those baseline readings make it much easier to spot wear early, before it turns into downtime.
Provac Sales repairs and rebuilds Atlas Copco vacuum pumps. Service can include inspection, vane, bearing and seal replacement, cleaning and a performance test. Submit an RMA request and complete the contamination data sheet before shipping. See our pump repair page for more information.
DHS pumps are dry screw pumps for deeper rough vacuum, continuous duty and rapid cycling. DVS pumps are compact dry vane pumps with carbon vanes for low to moderate vacuum. DZS pumps are dry claw pumps for coarse vacuum in central systems, conveying and packaging.
No oil is used in the compression chamber. Some models use grease-lubricated bearings or a small amount of gear lubricant sealed away from the process gas, but there are no routine pump oil changes.
VSD+ models have a variable speed drive that matches motor speed to vacuum demand. This reduces energy use on applications where demand varies, such as several machines on one central vacuum system.
Often, yes, but not always. Dry vane and claw pumps usually do not reach the same ultimate pressure as an oil-sealed pump. Send us your old pump model and working pressure and we will confirm whether a DHS, DVS or DZS pump is a fit.
Vane life depends on run hours, temperature and how clean the inlet air is. Inspect vanes at the intervals in the manual and replace them before they reach the minimum length.
Send us your working pressure, required pumping speed, duty cycle and supply voltage. We will recommend the right DHS, DVS or DZS model, confirm availability, or quote a repair of your existing pump. Contact us or call 831-462-8900.
